Every Day
03:15
|
|||
Every day I get little bit stronger
Even on the days I want to live no longer.
Every day I get a little bit brighter,
Even on the days I forget I’m a fighter.
Every day someone believes in me,
Helps me regain my dignity.
Every day it’s a little easier to see,
That I’m part of something much bigger than me.
Every day brings a new tomorrow,
Where maybe I’ll be released from my sorrow.

Joy!
02:39
|
|||
Evening summer sun is cold and empty
Even autumn leaves can't pull me through
The clarity of winter leaves me cloudy
Since joy departed with you
Communing with the deer won't bring me solace
Talking to the trees can't save me now
They say that I must go on without you
But they can't tell me how
We promised our forevers
From a bottle we drank our champagne
you vowed that you'd always be there with me
And I to you the same
Echoes of the night I slept without you
Voices from afar seep through the phone
Singing to me softly to remind me
I'd never walk alone

My Broken Heart
05:23
|
|||
Your perfect eyes, your perfect lips,
Your perfect lies from your fingertips.
Your perfect tie that matches your perfect shoes,
And your perfect lines when you deliver the blues.
Singing the blues comes easy to you,
Like a night on the river that drifts on forever,
Like a story untold from so long ago,
A piece of the puzzle that clears up the muddle.
Your perfect words that tear me apart,
Your perfect lies are my broken heart.
I watch from afar as you turn on your charms,
From the end of the bar to the girl in your arms.
Your Sunday school smile, your subtle caress,
As you move a little closer, her cheek with your breath.
One single breath is all that is left,
Of a lover’s new promise, she has waited long for this.
But the show must go on so you dedicate this song,
And you blow our minds with your perfect lines.
I wish I could say as a matter of pride,
That I turned away and walked into the night.

Speak Easy
03:53
|
|||
Sit down and speak easy with me,
You’ve got something troubling you I see.
You’re smile can’t hide your heavy heart,
So sit down and speak easy with me.
I see your furrowed brow,
I know you’re wondering how,
You’re ever going to make ends meet.
These t times I know are tough,
There barely seems enough,
For bills and still have food to eat.
Sit down and speak easy with me,
You’ve got something troubling you I see,
Your clothes are a little tattered and they’re torn,
So sit down and speak easy with me.
The world can seem unfair,
It’s hard to show you care,
When someone’s kicked you to the curb.
You act like you’re so strong,
But dear there’s nothing wrong,
In letting someone know you hurt.
Sit down and speak easy with me,
You’ve got something troubling you I see.
Your eyes, they have seen some better days,
Sit down and speak easy with me.
So pour yourself a gin,
And honey let’s begin,
Sit down and speak easy with me.

Betty's Song
03:43
|
|||
High upon a mountain top,
We watch her spread her wings,
She spins around and comes to life,
Like a lark who is learning to sing.
When Maria’s problems have been solved,
And the Baroness subdued,
I’ll sing along and I’ll remember you.
When Fred heal toes across the floor,
And Ginger follows through,
I’ll tap my feet and I’ll remember you.
The robin hops onto the grass,
Seeking wayward crumbs,
He makes his way this time each day,
Knowing that I’ll come.
And when the man up on the moon,
Shimmers into view,
I’ll wave to him and I’ll remember you.
When the chips are down we’ll turn them around,
With salt and vinegar.
Wrapped in old news, we’ll chase the blues,
By whistling “Que Sera”.
When Scotland scores the winning goal,
And Jimmy Hill gets booed,
I’ll wave my scarf and I’ll remember you.
The players bow, the curtain falls,
The star has lost her place,
The lights may dim,
But I’ll still see your face.

Nobody's Baby
04:50
|
|||
I’m nobody’s baby but yours,
I’m nobody’s baby but yours,
If you see me in spring,
I ignore everything,
‘Cos I’m nobody’s baby but yours.
Well some people they might sleep around,
Taking their love where it’s found.
While that’s a fine thing to do,
I’m true to you,
And I’ll be that way ‘til I’m in the ground.
I’m nobody’s baby but yours,
I don’t need no Valentine
Without one I’m just fine.
I’m nobody’s baby but yours,
When the dark settles into night,
And the stars are twinkling so bright,
I’ll be howlin’ at the moon,
Wishing that you could come home soon.
Now your picture that looks down from it’s frame,
And your coat that still hangs there just the same,
Are company enough for me,
Though it’s just your memory,
I’m nobody’s baby but yours,
I’m nobody’s baby but yours,
If you could look into my eyes,
You’d see true love never dies.

Still Love You
03:49
|
|||
I fell for you like water for chocolate,
Shiny and new, so sweet that I bought it.
But I told my heart to stop all that knockin’,
To stay in one place ‘cos this one will be forgotten.
But I still love you.
Love was a wolf wrapped up in sheep’s clothing,
Charming and cool but led to self loathing,
For any young fool who dared to believe in,
The words of a man whose life was deceiving.
If time asks for change don’t offer a quarter,
Give all that you make ‘cos that’s what it’s there for,
Make no mistake it’s not just a token,
When love calls your name the sound box has spoken.

Called To Your Home
02:16
|
|||
I had a mother she was kind and sweet.
Taught me to sing in harmony,
We’d play a song and whistle along,
And now she’s gone,
I’m all alone.
I had a father he could be cruel.
With love he taught the golden rule,
That a family that prays is a family that stays,
And now he’s gone,
I’m all alone.
I had a husband beautiful and kind.
We had a love that made each other shine,
He could make me laugh, make me feel so safe,
And now he’s gone,
I’m all alone.
Brothers and sisters and friends of mine,
Love one another ‘cos you never know the time,
When you’ll leave this world and the rest behind,
And you’ll be gone,
Called to your home.

In Between Times
04:04
|
|||
I can go from one thing to another,
Even laugh like I used to do,
Nod and smile in all the right places,
Even manage not to look like a fool.
It looks like I’m going about my business,
Living my life day by day,
But those in between times,
When you play on my mind,
Remind me I’m lonely for you.
Now a bird on the wire keeps on singing,
The clock on the wall it ticks on,
The flowers on the hill keep on blooming,
The world and it’s wonders carry on.
I try to stop myself from going crazy,
Filling the hours when I can,
But those in between times,
When you play on my mind,
Remind me I’m lonely for you.
Now a heart it can melt like a candle,
And at times it can beat like a drum,
But a heart when it has lost it will shatter,
Waiting for love that won’t come.
Today I bought myself flowers,
It seemed like the right thing to do,
For those in between times,
When you play on my mind,
Remind me I’m lonely for you.

Two Ravens
02:29
|
|||
Two ravens came at Christmas,
Never havin’ been here before,
One hovered above me,
The other sat demurely by the shore.
Two ravens came at Christmas,
Feathers as deep as the night,
I wanted them to follow me,
And never leave my sight.
“Are you the spirit of my true love,
That I lost far away to the sea?
Have you brought with you your sister,
So finally she can meet me?”
“His skin was as dark as your plumage,
His beauty and wit were renowned,
He laughed as loud as your croaking,
And wished he could fly upside down.”
But the ravens kept their council,
Continuing just as they were,
One sat on the rocks while,
The other was dancing through the air.
“Cruel, cruel birds did you trick me,
Into thinking my true love’s returned,
To have him here beside me,
Is what my poor heart does yearn.”
Then the one who hovered and circled,
Hearing my anguished cry,
Settled on the fence right beside me,
And looked at me deeply in the eye.
“To trick you is not our intention,
Nor sorrow do we wish to bring,
But to tell you in your darkest hour,
Seek joy in everything.”
